As I write my first post, I think I should write something about football. It’s my favorite sport and with the EURO 08' going on I would prefer writing on that.
Well I have always been a fan of Spain and Dutch team. But unfortunately the Dutch team is out of contention, thanks to Russia. Russians seems to be a rejuvenated bunch under the watchful eyes of Hiddink. They were the deserving winners undoubtedly in the quarter finals. Now Spain is pitted against Russia in the Semi finals. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Spain has the best team of all times. They have in them combination of great players in Torres, Fabregas, David Villa, Silva, Ramos and off course not to forget there world class goalkeeper in Casillas. Thus Spain has good mix of forwards, midfielders and defenders. Spain road to the semi-finals has been very encouraging. They are the only team undefeated in this cup. They have beat good teams like Sweden, Greece and then Italy in the quarters. Even they have thrashed Russia once in the group stages. But they had always been known as the black horse. But I dearly wish that they turn their fortunes this time around. If they have to do that they first have to beat the Russians and then in there way would be a major block in the form of Germany/Turkey. A final in the form of Spain vs. Germany would be a mouth-watering contest. Looking forward to a great week of football. I would bet on Spain.
